Ayatollah Khamenei sends condolences on demise of poet Aminpur Tehran Times Culture Desk TEHRAN -- Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has sent a message of condolences on the sad occasion of the demise of the contemporary poet Qeisar Aminpur.
Following is an excerpt from his message: “I have received the sad news about the lofty poet of the Islamic Revolution. His demise is a great loss for me and all art and cultural figures. He was an eminent poet and was heading towards the peak of the art of poetry. His loss buried many wishes, but it is hoped that his friends and students will try to accomplish his goals. He and his friends achieved the most beautiful growth in the poetry of this Revolution. May God rest his soul in peace.” In addition, the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad-Hossein Saffar Harandi, head of the Center for Dialogue Among Civilizations Mohammad Khatami, and The Director of the Islamic Ideology Dissemination Organization (IIDO) Seyyed Mehdi Khamushi sent messages of condolences. Qeisar Aminpur died of heart failure at Dey Hospital in Tehran on Tuesday. His funeral procession took place on Wednesday departing from Iran’s House of Poetry and progressing towards the Literature College of the University of Tehran. The culture minister, Head of Iranian Academy of Arts Hassan Habibi, and the poet Mohammadreza Abdolmalekian paid tribute to Aminpur and made a speech at the venue of Iran’s House of Poetry. The traditional singers Alireza Eftekhari and Hessameddin Seraj sang pieces on the loss of the master. Aminpur was born in 1958 in the southern Iranian city of Gotvand. After obtaining his high school diploma in his home town, he moved to Tehran where he continued his education. He received a doctorate from the University of Tehran in 1997. From 1988 he became editor in chief of the young adult’s magazine Sorush. He was also professor at the University of Tehran and Alzahra University. He resigned from the editorship of Sorush in 2002 when he became a member of the Academy of Persian Language and Literature. His collections of poetry include “The Respiration of Morning”, “In the Sun’s Alley”, “Poetry of the 10th Day’s Noon”, “Sudden Mirrors”, “All Flowers are All Sunflowers” and “The Grammar of Love”
