The 2010 South East Asia Judo Championships kicked off at Phan Dinh Phung sports event hall in Ho Chi Minh City on September 22.
The event was organised by the Vietnam Judo Association in coordination with HCM City’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The tournament, held every two years, drew participation from 120 athletes, coaches and referees from 7 countries: Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, Laos, Cambodia and host Vietnam.
Athletes will compete in 8 weight categories.
The championships, which will last until September 24, is a good opportunity for Vietnamese and other countries’ athletes to get more experience and be well prepared for the 2010 Asian Games (ASIAD).
