Asiad and Universiade judo champion Liu vows to qualify for Olympics
Doha Asiad gold medalist Liu Huanyuan said she will try her best to fight for the Beijing Olympics qualification after she claimed title in women's open weight judo competition at the Universiade on Thursday.

"I will fight even there is only a gleam of chance," Liu said.

Liu, 24, is one of the candidates to compete in women's over 78kg category in the upcoming Beijing Olympics as the Olympics doesn't have the open weight category event. She has to compete with Yuan Hua, gold medalist of Sydney Olympics and world champion Tong Wen, who also won a gold at the Universiade.

"I'm in my best status and I'll snatch the gold for China if I' m sent to the Olympics," said determined Liu.

China has dominated the women's over 78kg category in consecutive three Olympics from 1992 to 2000.

All the domestic candidates have been attending the four-round national qualification matches. In the first two, Liu achieved third and first places respectively and was ranked first.

However, Liu said the result won't come out until the last minute and she will fight for it.

"I don't care whether I'll be sent to the Olympics. I just don' t want to let myself down," she said.
