7th Annual Poetry Contest Invites Polonia Participants

VII Doroczny Konkurs Poetycki zaprasza do udziału Polonie

Mielec, a town best known in Poland for its aircraft industry, now exports airplanes and aircraft components to customers around the world. It is also home to an international poetry competition, held each year at the Pedagogical Library. There are three categories: Adult, Juvenile, and Polonia. The top prize for the first two categories is the Silver Quill of the Mayor of Mielec; the grand prize in the Polonia category is the Eagle of the Senate of the Polish Republic. Senator Wladyslaw Ortyl, who represents the region in Parliament, and Janusz Chodorowski, mayor of Mielec are honorary patrons of the event. For runner-ups there are lesser prizes and a number of honorable mention awards. All poems that clear the hurdle into the finals are published in a commemorative chapbook.

Entries are being accepted now for the judging which will take place at the end of May 2011 (deadline for submission is March 25, 2011). Entrants are permitted one poem of up to 30 lines in the Polish language. Submission is anonymous, a code word is used to identify the poem and poet.

VII Doroczny Konkurs Poetycki zaprasza do udziału Polonie

Mielec, miasto znane w Polsce z zakładów przemysłu lotniczego produkujacych samoloty i ich komponenty dla kontrachentów z całego swiata organizuje przy udziale Biblioteki Pedagogicznej doroczny, międzynarodowy konkurs poetycki. Uczestnicy podzieleni są na trzy kategorie: dorośli, młodzież oraz Polonia. Główna nagroda w dwóch pierwszych kategoriach jest “Srebrne Pióro” prezydenta miasta Mielca. Główną nagrodę w kategorii polonijnej jest Orzeł Senatu Rzeczpospolitej Polskiej. Honorowymi patronami Konkursu są: reprezentujacy region w polskim Parlamencie Senator Władysław Ortyl oraz Janusz Chodorowski, Prezydent Mielca. Laureaci uhonorowani są nagrodami głównymi oraz dodatkowymi. Utwory poetyckie zakwalifikowane do finału opublikowane zostaną nieodpłatnie w formie ksiązki oraz w mediach.

Zgłoszenia są przyjmowane do 25 marca 2011 r. Każdy z uczestników może zaprezentowac jeden wiersz o objetosci nie przekraczającej strony maszynopisu (30 linijek). Zgłoszenia są anonimowe, zaś uczestnicy i ich utwory są zakodowane do momentu ogłoszenia wyników. Finał konkursu planowany jest na przełomie maja i czerwca 2011 r.
