Vietnam wins bronze at judo world cup

Nhan Dan - Vietnamese judo athlete Van Ngoc Tu brought home a bronze medal from the 2010 Women's Judo World Cup was being held at Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

Van Ngoc Tu beat Alexandra Podryadova from Kazakhstan to rank third in the 48kg category. Tu also earned 40 points in the world ranking, the highest achievement by a Vietnamese martial artist at an international competition.

Meanwhile, Nguyen Thi Lan was defeated by a Japanese opponent, Shiose Ayako in the 57kg category.

The tournament drew the participation of more than 100 athletes from 17 countries including Russia, the US, Japan, Israel, the Republic of Korea, Spain, Ukraine and Vietnam... It is also an opportunity for the martial artists to collect points in the world rankings and for the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
