Judo team's future to be decided today

Sunday, April 26, 2009KARACHI: A four-member Pakistan's judo team is expected to participate in the Asian Judo Championship to be held in Chinese Taipei from May 22 to 24, a top official of the Pakistan Judo Federation (PJF) told 'The News'.
The secretary of PJF Masood Ahmad said in order to give final touch to the programme a meeting of the federation will be held in Rawalpindi on Sunday. He said a top official of the federation will also attend a meeting of the Judo Union of Asia to be held during the three-day championship.
He disclosed that the federation plans to send those boys to Chinese Taipei who have already been picked for the Asian Martial Arts Games from June 6 to 14 in Bangkok. Zafar Iqbal, Muhammad Miraj, Naveed Akbar and Karamat Butt have been picked for the Asian Martial Arts Games. He also disclosed that the PJF have also received an invitation from the organisers from the World Judo Championship to be held in Sindelfilgel in Germany from May 27 to 28.
