Algeria wins African Judo Championship

Algerian squad won the men and women titles of the 29th edition of African Judo Championship that ended Sunday in Agadir (southern Morocco), PANA reported from here Monday.In the men competition, Algerian team won the title against their Egyptian counterpart by 4 - 3, while the Tunisian and South-African teams placed third.In the female event, Algeria beat Tunisia 4-3 as Morocco and Senegal placed third.
The individual events was dominated by Algerian judokas (men class) who won 13 medals (6 gold, 3 silver, 4 bronze), Tunisia (6 gold, 3 silver, 2 bronze), Egypt(2 gold, 4 silver, 1 bronze).
Host country, Morocco, placed fourth with 8 medals (2 gold).
The pan-African event brought together 25 countries: Libya, Mali, Guinea, DR Congo, Madagascar, Gabon, South Africa, Côte d'Ivoire, Senegal, Kenya, Burkina Faso, Mauritius, Tunisia, Mozambique, Nigeria, Egypt, Algeria, Ghana, Angola, Chad, Niger, Cameroon and Togo.Some 106 judokas (male class) took part in categories -60kg, -66 kg, -73kg, -81kg, -90kg, -100kg et +100kg and 70 judokates (female) 48kg, -52kg, - 57kg, -63kg, -70kg, -78kg and +78kg).
