FIJIAN Sisilia Naisiga has been fighting hard throughout the whole judo competition of the South Pacific Games.
Sisilia Naisiga has been playing judo for 11 years. She started off at her local Police Academy judo club. Naisiga now trains in Fukuoka, Japan.
Naisiga has been practising judo and studying in Fukuoka for six years. After spending a year on exchange, she decided to return to train properly for judo.
She was originally only going for a three month stint.
She kept extending for another three months, and then another.
"Finally, my coach encouraged me to stay on a longer visa," said Sisilia.
She combines a rigorous training schedule with studying for her Business Management degree, which she is completing at Fukuoka University.
Naisiga will be competing at the Oceania Games being held in November but will try to relax a little for now.
Fiji's Judo Machine
Mereseini Galu and Viniana Tuibulia have also come to Samoa to represent Fiji.
Galu has been quite strong in this tournament. She competed yesterday in draw fights and scored a few ippon.
Viniana Tuibulia has been training for five years. In between fighting bouts, Viniana was kind enough to offer Mereseini some physiotherapy- Fijian-style!
The New Caledonian judo team have been a strong force to be reckoned with and they are going to keep it that way. Young judo competitors Vaea Chadfeau and Coralie Bretegnier are making sure of that.Vaea, 15 years old and Coralie, 17 years old, have been fighting it out. FONTE: Fiji Times - Suva, Fiji
