Devishree wins silver in judo event at Czech Republic
New Delhi, Aug 8: Indian judoka Devishree from Karnataka bagged a silver medal in the 78 Kg plus category, in the 13th EJU 'A' International Judo tournament Czech Cup for junior men and women (Under-20) held from August 3 to 5 at Jicin, Czech Republic.Judokas Veer Bahadur Thapa (below 60 Kg), Kalpana Devi (below 52 Kg) and Rekha (below 78 Kg) were placed at fifth position.Most of the ranked players of European Judo Union participated in the Czech Cup tournament, a Judo Federation of India release stated. Twenty three countries, including France, Germany, Hungary, Canada, Italy and Portugal, besides India participated in the tournament. The Indian Judo team's participatiion in the event has helped them gain valuabe exposure ahead of the eighth Asian Junior Judo Championship 2007 to be held in November 2007 at Hyderabad.
