Dunbarton's Gabrielle Proksa took home the gold medal this weekend from the Junior U.S. Open Championship in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Proksa, from the Granite State Judo Institute, won the 35kg class, beating Madison Montgomery of Burleson, Texas, and Natalie Santana of Miramar, Fla. Nearly 300 athletes, ages 7-8 and 13-16, from more than two dozen nations competed in the first day of the event.
