Rahmati hands Iran world blind judo gold
Sunday, July 02, 2006 - LONDON, July 2 (IranMania) - Saeid Rahmati got the better of all rivals on technical points to give Iran the 60kg glittering gold of the World Blind Judo Championships in Paris MNA reported.
Given a bye in the first round, the Iranian judoka overcame opponents from China, Taiwan, and Japan before beating the Cuban finalist.
In the 66kg, Musa Pur-Abbas from Iran defeated his rival from Hong Kong, but he was eliminated after losing to Spanish and Chinese representatives in the second and third rounds.
Iran’s 73kg judoka Navid Farrokhzad made an early exit with a loss to Lithuania’s contender in the opening match.
