Put judo in the spotlight!

Put judo in the spotlight!
Jasmine has been learning judo for 18 months.
She's fed up with people going on and on about football, cricket and other martial arts - she thinks judo should get more recognition.
"If I said martial arts, you'd think of Karate. I think of judo.
If I said the Olympics you'd think of running, football, swimming. I think of judo.
I'm really annoyed about the amount of coverage football and cricket get, when judo barely gets any!
I think this is really unfair, particularly because we have a British world champion in judo - Craig Fallon.
You'd recognise David Beckham if you saw him, but would you recognise Craig Fallon or Karina Bryant?
Throwing, tripping, dropping
Judo is a type of martial art that was first developed in Japan by a man called Jigoro Kano.
The word judo itself means 'gentle way'.
In judo there are many different throws. A throw can be as simple as tripping someone up or picking them up and dropping them down.
But there are things that are banned, such as punching and kicking or grabbing someone's hair.

Feeling great
I've been doing judo for about 18 months and so far I've lost weight, look and feel much more healthy and athletic and I've made absolutely loads of new friends.
I still haven't managed to convince anyone from my school to have a go but I know that if they tried it, so many of them would love it!"
