Judo chairman donates equipment to athletes

The Chairman of the Rivers State Judo Association, Prince Timothy Nsirim has promised to renovate the Judo gym and provide new mat for the judokas.
According to him, the gym will be repainted immediately, while the new mat will be provided before next year.
Prince Nsirim, made the promise last Friday, during the presentation of sports equipment donated by the chairman to the council, and inspection of the gym, at the Alfred Diete-Spiff Sports Council, Port Harcourt.
He promised to use his wealth of experience to lift the standard of Judo in the state to an enviable height, and added, “this can only be achieved through the corporation and collective responsibility of everyone of us”, he said.
Reacting to the gesture, the acting director of the Rivers State Sports Council, Hon. Daobu Harry, thanked the chairman and promised a judicious use of the equipment.
Earlier, the Public Relations Officer of the council, Mr Baris; Wifa, had said that, sponsors or individuals should canvass for donation of sports kits, rather than medals and tropies, saying that opportunities should be given to multiple medal winning sports.
Meanwhile, equipment donated included, ten (10) pairs of jugagi, ten (10) pairs of knee cap, ten (10) pairs of amble guard, ten (10) pairs of vest, ten (10) pairs of shorts, ten (10) pairs of canvass, and ten (10) pairs of stockings.
