Gordon beat Krzysztof Weglarz to take a podium spot Britain finished third in the overall medal table at the 2006 European Judo Championships in Tampere, Finland, after Winston Gordon won -90kg bronze.
It was the first European medal for the 27-year-old Londoner who came fifth in the 2004 Athens Olympics.
"It was our best European Championships display in 10 years," said British Judo performance director Colin McIver.
"We must now concentrate on building on this success as we go into next year for the Olympic qualification period."
France topped the medal table, with Russia second. Britain's four medals ensured third spot.
Craig Fallon won gold on day one in the -60kg weight category and Sarah Clark won the -63kg title on day two.
It is the first time in 10 years that Britain has had more that one European Champion at the same time.
Britain's first bronze of the championships was won by Harlow's Peter Cousins in the -100kg weight category on Sunday.
Gordon lost only to the eventual gold medallist Ivan Pershin of Russia.
But he came back through the repechage to beat Krzysztof Weglarz of Poland in the bronze medal match.
