MYSORE: The Karnataka State Open University, in association with Kannada and culture department and Kannada development authority is hosting a state-level meet on Kannada poetry from Monday.
The two-day meet will focus on modern poetry. The meet is hosted in the wake Kannada getting classical language status from the Centre. KDA chairman Mukhyamantri Chandru will inaugurate the event. Kannada and culture director Manu Baligar and KSOU V-C K S Rangappa will attend.
The meet will have seven sessions that will deliberate on modern and post-modern poetry. Works of poets like Siddalingaiah, Vijaya Dhabbe, Da Ra Bendre, K S Narasimhaswamy, Kuvempu, Pu Thi Narasimhachar, G S Shivarudrappa, Gopalakrishna Adiga and Channaveera Kanavi will be discussed and rendered. Noted literary critic Giraddi Govindaraju will deliver the valedictory address.
