Biranchi's wife elected Judo Association secretary

Bhubaneswar : Gitanjali Panda, late Judo coach Biranchi Das's wife has been unanimously elected as the new general secretary of the Orissa Judo Association.
Panda became the first women to head the State Body of Judo. Gitanjali earlier served the Association as joint secretary.
This decision was taken at an emergency meet held here at Bhubaneswar Club under the chairmanship of Association president and senior IAS officer Priyabrata Patnaik.
All the senior members of the Association including PK Batra, Manas Das, Kandan Murmu, Pradip Biswal, Gyanaranjan Mohanty, Lopamudra Paltasingh, Sabyasachi Rath and DP Sahoo were among those attended the meet and endorsed the proposal of president Patnaik. The State Judo Association would host a 15-day long camp under Japanese here in June.
Meanwhile, Gitanjali, who is passing through sleepless night since April 13 following her husband's untimely death, however she made it clear that her efforts to fulfill the dreams of late Das would continue. "I have strong faith on God. I know my husband's contribution for the promotion of Judo in Orissa. I will continue my efforts to give a new look to Judo at least for my husband," a tear eyed Gitanjali said on Tuesday.
