Heather wins judo bronze in Belgium
Barrowby judo exponent Heather Goodman won a bronze medal at the Tornooi van Merksem International in Belgium last weekend.
The 15-year-old KGGS student was among 17 youngsters, aged between nine and 16, who represented the British Judo Council national team.The team brought home a total of 10 medals - three gold, two silver and five bronze.Heather, who is a member of Vale Judo Club in Oakham, has only been practising the martial art for three years, but has this year collected a number of medals, including two golds in the Dunkirk Open and silver at the Oslo Spring Championships.She finished fifth in the British Judo Association Junior Nationals in Sheffield last month and recently took gold in the Leicestershire Open.Heather's father Lee said: "Heather knows that she has the ability to achieve a higher position and is now in the process of taking her training to the next level and improving her fitness."
