ASHINGTON Judo Club has received a bronze level award from the British Judo Association (BJA).
The club had to comply with the BJA rules on running a club to a high standard.

With junior sessions taking place all coaches and volunteers had to be CRB checked and child welfare courses had to be attended and a welfare officer appointed.
Ashington Judo Club have that all in place.To celebrate this achievement the club invited Steve Gawthorpe, a British, European and Olympic medal winner, and NE-waza (ground work) specialist to the club to take a three-hour training session and to present Ashington Judo Club with their award.
Anyone wishing to join the judo club juniors should attend Monday nights from 6.30pm till 7.30pm; seniors Monday 7.30pm till 8.30 pm; Mondays Ashington Sports Club and 8pm till 9pm and Thursdays in Hirst Welfare.
