Nine judokas to represent India in World Judo Championship

PATIALA: Nine judokas will represent India at the World Judo Championship slated for September 13 to 16 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.The five men and four women judokas, currently under training at the National Institute of Sports (NIS).The National Judo Coach J G Sharma told UNI that about 100 countries are expected to take part in the mega event. The judokas are likely to leave Patiala for Delhi early next week from where they will fly to Brazil, Mr Sharma said.
Team: Men: Navjot Chana 60 kg (Punjab Police), Navdeep Chana 66 kg (Punjab Police), Rakesh Kumar 73 kg (Punjab Police), Sanjay Singh 90 kg (CRPF) and Yashpal Solanki 100 kg (Punjab Police).
Women: Tombi Devi 48 kg (CRPF), Aruna 52 kg (Haryana), Nidhi 57 kg (CRPF) and Garima Chowdhary 63 kg (UP).
