160 people were invited to attend the BJA 2006-2007 annual awards evening in Birmingham and were told of how Kirstie, 19,has been a member of Westerleigh Judokwai for seven years and has represented her sport at County, Regional and National level. Kirstie now not only enjoys competing but is also a qualified coach coaching main stream and special needs players at Westerleigh Judokwai which is now considered by the BJA as the home of Special Olympics Judo. Kirstie is now starting her second year at Bath University studying Sports Science but always returns to her roots at Westerleigh at every opportunity. For Paul Everest senior coach at Westerleigh Judokwai it was a very proud moment seeing Kirstie awarded Young Volunteer of the Year, as she is a true inspiration to other players.
