Imphal, August 10: The 13th State Level Judo Championship 2007 organised by Manipur Judo Association began from today at the Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium with Joint Director (YAS) M Pahari Singh, life president of the host Association JS Hanglem Singh and Principal of National Sports Academy L Ajit Singh gracing the opening ceremony as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
The first day saw MALSA, mayang Imphal judokas claim two gold and a silver medal in two categories with Ch Rabi and Kh Ashis finishing 1-2 in sub-junior boys (12 years) 25 kg.
S Rakesh (LLYC) and L Budhi (UDA) shared the third position.
A Malemnganbi fetched MALSA's second gold topping the sub-junior girls 25 kg class in which Ng Tombisana (LLYC) secured the second position and M Victoriya (LLYC) finished third.
In all 227 judokas from nine teams/clubs are competing in the championship.
