The Azerbaijani judo team will be unable to perform at its best during the World Cup to take place on August 26-27 in the Heydar Aliyev Sports and Concert complex.
The Chief Coach of the National Team Agayar Akhundzadeh told Trend that of the core athletes chosen for this competition only Mekhman Azizov (81 kg) will be participating. Three-time Champion of Europe Elchin Ismayilov (66 kgг) decided to withdraw from competition this year. The Bronze winner of the World Championship 2003 Movlud Miraliyev (100 kg) is in rehabilitation after a back injury and will also be unable to participate. New European Champion Elnur Mamedli (66 kg) and Continent champion Nijad Shikhalizadeh (60 kg) are not taking part either leaving the Coach with the difficult task of choosing from its reserve players.
