Italian expert holds judo coaches’ clinic

New Delhi, August 14: Over 40 coaches from all over the country are participating in the three-day judo seminar-cum-clinic that got underway at the Nehru Stadium here today. Italian expert Bruno Carmeni is supervising the seminar. In all there will be 10 interacting sessions with the coaches which include demonstration on the mat.
Keeping in view the importance of modern training methods, say the Judo Federation of India (JFI) officials, emphasis during the seminar will be on latest training system for both beginners and senior players.
Carmeni, with more than 30 years’ of coaching experience, dealt with the training of beginners on the opening day. “Training kids or the beginners should me more fun and play. It shouldn’t be stressful,” Carmeni said through an interpretor.
During the session, the Italian also demonstrated various drills which, according to him, are easy to learn for kids without causing any injury to them.
Besides the coaches, national and international judokas, will also have a session with the Italian expert. The session will be more to do with advance training and specific skills. Carmeni will also have a session with blind judokas tomorrow.
