Judo athlete suspended for doping violation
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. The U-S Anti-Doping Agency has suspended a judo athlete for two years following a positive test for testosterone.George Hartman of Glendale tested positive for the anabolic agent on March 2nd, 2005.
Besides the suspension, which began August 28th, the 32-year-old Hartman forfeited competitive results, including a second-place finish in the 100-kilogram division in the 2005 U-S-A Judo National Championships.
During an arbitration hearing, Hartman and his doctor claimed his use of testosterone was medically justified. An independent three-member panel of the American Arbitration Association unanimously rejected the defense.
Hartman can return to competition August 28th, 2007.
