Judo success is recognised


Judo success is recognised

Just-Judo members have had a busy time recently competing at all levels over the past few months. The Midlothian judo club that provides classes for all levels, grass roots to elite players, has had members involved in events from Edinburgh to Estonia.

Outstanding performances have come from Connie Ramsey who competed for the Great Britain -20 squad in Belgium, winning a bronze medal. Junior members have not been left out the action with cadets representing the club at local tournaments. Jodie Mullen (Penicuik High School) won silver and Demi Moffat (Dalkeith High) bronze at the Celtic Cup, a national tournament held at Meadowbank Stadium.
Just-Judo boys -12 team won gold in the Celtic Cup team competition. The team was made up of Jason Barrance (Loanhead Primary), Mathew Allison (St Andrew's Primary), Kyle Flemming (Stobhill Primary) and Ian McRae (Penicuik High).

Jusat-Judo club coach Billy Cusack was recently awarded his honorary 6th Dan. Billy was awarded the grade for his contribution to judo as a competitor and coach.Billy was an Olympian in 1992 and has coached many of Great Britain's top judo players including Bonnyrigg's World Champion Graeme Randall. Billy was presented his 6th Dan after performing a Kata demonstration at this years British Open Championships held in London.
