Ashlea’s ready to fight her corner
ASHLEA AUSTIN (picturedabove) is gearing herself up to take on some of the the best juniors judo fighters in the world.
Austin, 17, of Wrexham has been selected to compete for Wales at the Commonwealth Games Judo Championships, being held in Derry, Northern Ireland on June 16-18.
The youngster, who is a studying PE, English Language and Sociology at Yale College will be competing in the under 70kg youth category, and it hotly tipped with an impressive record at national level.
Austin is a member of Wrexham police Judo Club and is also part of the GB Junior Squad as well as representing Wales at national competitions including the Alicanti Open in Spain and the Russian International.She said: “My training is going well and I am really looking forward to the games in Ireland.”
