Gold medal haul
PORT Lincoln Judo Club members brought home a number of gold medals from the Barossa zone titles in Gawler on Sunday, September 9.
Jordan Haynes fought in the under 13 under 42kg division and took out the gold medal for her division.
Tamika Haynes fought very well in the under 16 under 42kg division and also won gold.
Emily Hookings, now living in Adelaide but still fighting for Port Lincoln, also won her division.
Luke Kake had his first competition and took gold for the under 13 under 81kg division. Luke showed a lot of promise for future competitions.
Lee O’Reilly also had his first competition and fought well to take out a gold.
O’Reilly also fought up a class almost defeating a black belt player.
Luke MacDonald fought up to gold medal match but was defeated by Adelaide opponent, which left him with the silver for the under 73kg division.
David MacDonald fought well, taking out gold for the seniors under 66kg division.
The competition was well attended with players from all over South Australia.
Port Lincoln Judo Club is aiming to head to Sydney on July 13 for the national titles.
Judo is an Olympic sport and a great way to stay fit and is open to everyone.
Training times for juniors: 6-7pm Monday; seniors: 7-8.30pm Monday at the Ravendale Gymnastics Club.
