
Maui High judo claims nine titles at MIL meet No. 2
PUKALANI — The Maui High School boys and girls judo teams won nine out of 19 total divisions at the Maui Interscholastic League meet No. 2 at the Kamehameha Maui gym on Saturday.
Sabers girls won five weight classes — Sarah Marzan at 98 pounds, Mari Lazo at 103, Jasmine Dollopac at 115, Kelsey Miyahira at 139, and Kayla Brown at 154.
Other girls winners were Kamehameha Maui’s Carli Kubo Chinen (122) and Shayla Riocra (129), King Kekaulike’s Malia Medeiros (109) and Baldwin’s Lori Takafuji (172).
The Sabers got wins on the boys side from McDavin Gumboc (114), Matt Ubilas (132B), Jansen Ruiz (145A), and Ty Estabillo (145B).
Other winners included the Warriors’ Justin Davis (132A) and Kyle Saiki (161), the Bears’ Aaron Yoshizu (108) and Gavyn Tateishi (198), Na Alii’s Joshua Brewer (220) and St. Anthony’s Maka Medeiros (178).The next MIL meet is a bracket tournament at King Kekaulike next Saturday.
