SEVENTEEN members of the Highland Budokan Judo Club took part in the 2007 Scottish Age Band Championships held at Meadowbank Sports Stadium in Edinburgh.
This was a highly contested competition with all the clubs in Scotland sending their very best to represent their club and region to hopefully win the prestigious title of Scottish Champion 2007.
The day started off well for the budokan club as two of its members in the U30kg category, Russell Dingwall and Christopher Mota, fought superbly, making their way into the final with Russell coming out the victor. In the U38kg category Duncan Seaton was narrowly defeated in the bout to get into the final, but won his fight for bronze.
In the U42kg category Calum MacLennan fought fantastically, making it into the final and club-mate David Kerr won through into bronze position.
Kyle Kennedy and Calum Gallie both fought in the U50kg category, fighting well and winning all the way through, which resulted in them meeting in the final with Calum coming out the eventual winner.
Roy Shepherd competing in the U66kg category won his first three fights but was beaten by a small three point score in the semifinals, he went on to win the bronze medal.
