We think judo is great exercise

We think judo is great exercise

There aren't many sports where Britain holds world and European titles but thanks to Craig Fallon and Sarah Clarke, Britain is top of the Judo world.
The name Judo actually means 'the gentle way' but judo doesn't look all that gentle.
Press Packers Jo and Francis give us the lowdown on their sport.
"For Judo you need physical fitness, concentration and good balance.
Jigaro Kano created Judo over 100 years ago. He did it because he was skinny and being bullied a lot so he created a sport where skill beats strength.
Armlocks
In Judo we do not kick or punch. Instead we use armlocks, strangleholds and throws.
To do Judo safely you MUST join a club - we practise our moves carefully and only do judo on mats.
The aim of a judo fight is to throw someone flat on their back or hold them down. A bout or fight can last up to five minutes.
Judo is great fun and good exercise."
