Japanese Olympic judoka meets Russia's Putin
A former Japanese Olympic judoka and the Russian prime minister, Vladamir Putin have agreed to strengthen ties in the field of judo.
Los Angeles Olympic gold medal-winning judoka Yasuhiro Yamashita of Japan met Putin, himself a judo player, in Moscow on Sunday.
Six Japanese judoka are on a tour of Moscow at the invitation of Russian judo. All of the members delegation missed the Moscow games because of the boycott led by the United States to protest against the Soviet Union's 1979 invasion of Afghanistan.
